If the handles on the body or lid are difficult to separate, this indicates the cooker is still under pressure. Do not force it open. Remaining pressure can be hazardous. 4) Once the cooker has reached the normal cooking pressure, lower the heat to just above the simmer position to prevent excessive evaporation of the liquid that generates steam.
